Sampling comments: "The majority of the Atzelsdorf assemblage was collected by two private collectors, W. SchebeczeK (Pellendorf) and G. Penz (Vienna), who consequently visited the aban­ doned sand­ and gravel pit over many years. Finally, in 2003 integrated geological and palaeontological field activities were carried out by the Museum of Natural History Vienna... systematic excavations followed focusing on the vertebrate bearing layer in the basal part of the section"
indeterminate fishes and "the bivalve Mytilopsis hoernesi" are also present
