Sample name: Buda Hills (abandoned arable land, 1992)

Reference: A. Bâldi and T. Kisbenedek. 1997. Orthopteran assemblages as indicators of grassland naturalness in Hungary. Agriculture, Ecosystems and Environment 66:121-129 [ER 2183]
Geography
Country: Hungary

Coordinate: 47° 35' N, 18° 54' E
Coordinate basis: stated in text

Geography comments: "near Kutya Hill and Meszes Hill, in the Buda Hills"
longitude is misstated as 18º90' and is assumed to mean 18.9º

Environment
Habitat: temperate broadleaf/mixed forest

Altered habitat: pasture

Substrate: ground surface

WMT: 19.4

MAP: 617.0

Habitat comments: "Originally, the whole region was forested, except on very steep slopes. Therefore, our three sites were probably covered by forests, but were cut in historical times... all the three sites were grasslands already at the beginning of the century" and this particular site "was an abandoned arable land... with tall grass"

Methods
Life forms: orthopterans,other insects

Sites: 1

Sampling methods: line transect,sweep nets

Sample size: 182 individuals

Years: 1992

Seasons: summer

Sampling comments: "Orthopteran assemblages were sampled using the sweep-netting method on previously marked l-m wide transects... The number of sweeps were 142/50 m (sd = 17.5, n = 20). The total length of the transects was 200 m on the AAL and MED sites, and 310 m on the SNSM site... The sampling was carried out... in mid-July"
