Most of the population lives in grass huts either within the forest or in very close association with it. The most important crop is bananas, which, along with colocasias, are grown in forest clearings, particularly in the vicinity of Njoro. There is a small amount of cultivation in the reserve outside the forested area" (so the forested area in the reserve is pristine) and sampling was within "banana plantation"
